HMS SINGRAY G2 Specifications
As a standalone AR headset, the HMS SINGRAY G2 does not need to be connected to an external PC or smartphone. Instead, all the computing is done on its Qualcomm QCS8550 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) chipset. The G2 also has an Intel Movidius Myriad X processor to power its AI vision and tracking.
It's birdbath optical system results in a crisp, high-brightness Micro-OLED display with a:
- FOV of around 47 degrees diagonally
- Resolution of 1920×1200
- 90 Hz refresh rate
The HMS SINGRAY G2 is lightweight at around 320 grams, which is critical for long-duration use. Its hot-swappable battery allows for continuous use. When the battery runs low, it can be replaced with a fresh one without interrupting use due to a small integrated three-minute battery that runs while the old battery is swapped out.
When it comes to tracking, the G2 has hand tracking, 3DoF and 6DoF modes, and multiple cameras along with a 9-axis IMU, which allows for stable spatial awareness. There's also support for external controllers if preferred.
Developer vs. Pro Edition: What's the Difference?
The SINGRAY G2 comes in two editions: Developer and Pro. The developer edition is already available with select sellers, including VR Expert, and is primarily for single or low-scale use.
Access to SDKs (software development kits) allows for customizable application development, making it ideal for pilot projects, content creators, and AR app developers. Early features like real-time, multi-user collaboration and translation, along with open testing environments, make it great for testing applications right out of the box.
According to early reports, the HMS SINGRAY G2 Pro will be available in early 2026 and is tailored for enterprise use, offering added security, centralized management features, and deployment tools for scalable AR rollouts.
HMS SINGRAY G2 vs.HoloLens 2
There have been plenty of AR devices that were made to gain a foothold in industrial, design, and even healthcare industries. The Magic Leap 2 aimed at surpassing the Microsoft HoloLens 2 with better performance, visuals, and a more open operating system. The Lynx R1 took a different approach, having both VR and AR capabilities.
The HMS SINGRAY G2 can be seen as the next evolution of what the HoloLens 2 is. The HoloLens 2 has an industrial edition that is better suited for rougher conditions, and the G2 follows that trend with an IP65 rating for dust and water, which means that dust won't be an issue, and water will only be an issue if the headset is subject to high-pressure streams or submersion.
The G2 is lighter by over 240g, making it more accessible for all-day use. The FOV is slightly larger on the HoloLens 2, but the visuals from the refresh rate to the resolution are noticeably better on the G2, along with its boost in overall processing power. The software ecosystem is more closed in the HoloLens 2, whereas the G2 favors a more open developer-first model.
Considering that the HoloLens 2 is at its EOL and is outclassed in hardware, the G2 is ideal for scalability, along with its simple and open ecosystem, allowing for greater customization and use cases.
Final Thoughts: The Next Step in Professional AR
The SINGRAY G2 represents a new phase in enterprise AR as a powerful and scalable device for businesses to integrate into their workflows. Its capabilities make it ideal for training, industrial maintenance, and design visualization: from gamified marketing and sales meetings to on-the-floor fixes and immersive real-world training scenarios.
The possibilities are far-reaching:
- An engineer can overlay machine blueprints right over the real-world machine for easier diagnostics and receive guided instructions.
- Doctors can receive visual analysis and assistance from AI during a surgery.
- Digital twins can be created and tested in an augmented environment.
- Business leaders can have more interactive meetings, boosting memory retention and engagement.
- Engineers and designers can interact with their creations in a more realistic way, completely transforming the concept of a model.
There are plenty of AR solutions available, and at VR Expert, we provide them along with resources tailored for enterprise use with packages that may include everything from a year of tech support to installation services. To compare the G2 with other hardware on the market, VR Expert's AR portfolio is a good place to start.
