WebNTech founded Solaax, specializing in solutions for large events and venues. Initially, the company served the government event sector, with events such as the World Government Summit. In 2021, it expanded into the commercial sector, covering events like the Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi. WebNTech is a leader in the government event sector, offering services such as ticketing, access control systems and access control hardware. With Solaax, the product it developed, WebNTech offers a comprehensive suite of services, including registration, ticketing, access control and venue management.
The challenge
WebNTech is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to set new standards in the event industry. Starting with guest registration, the company developed the Solaax software with the goal of streamlining venue processes and integrating its software, which can read QR codes in 0.2 seconds. WebNTech aimed to introduce technology that would significantly speed up access control at venues: with the help of AR smart glasses, the person handling QR codes would simply need to look at a code for it to be processed quickly.
The requirements for the glasses were specific: lightweight, easy to use without the need for display adjustments, a high-quality camera and efficient battery usage.
The solution
The Vuzix Blade 2 emerged as the ideal choice for WebNTech because of its user-friendly design, its camera quality and the fact that operators could simply put on the glasses and start working. Planning to run a demo during the Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi, WebNTech focused on camera quality and ease of use, given the importance of fast QR code reading. The company developed the Solaax software to work seamlessly with the Vuzix Blade 2, enabling QR codes to be read in just 0.2 seconds. A successful demo would pave the way for further deployment, with plans to equip staff in access control and at food and beverage stands, and even to explore applications in crowd management and security.
WebNTech found VR Expert instrumental in its search for the right headset. The collaboration with VR Expert was described as smooth, with trial devices provided so that different headsets could be tested. Ultimately, the Vuzix Blade 2 was chosen for its camera quality, ease of use and lightweight design.
Looking ahead, WebNTech envisions expanding its use of VR technology beyond QR code reading. Potential applications include crowd management, security and integrating the technology into various aspects of event management.
"We were looking for a device that is easy to use, and the Vuzix Blade 2 was perfect because we could just put on the glasses. VR Expert was very helpful, and the process with them was smooth."
Majd Aburas, Founder and CEO of WebNTech.
